EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic approach developed by American psychologist Dr. Francine Shapiro. It is a widely researched and evidence-based effective therapy for treating trauma and other distressing life experiences. EMDR uses non-hypnotic psychotherapeutic methods, including eye movements, to help people recover from traumatic and distressing events.

EMDR therapy replicates the natural brain activity during REM sleep, helping to process unprocessed traumatic experiences stored in the brain. EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing issues or completing homework between sessions. When a negative life experience is sufficiently processed in EMDR therapy, old emotions, thoughts, behaviours, negative core beliefs, feelings and sensations associated with this experience are no longer experienced.
